Rainforest Nursery
We’re in the process of moving, but by request, I took some pictures of the nursery before we put everything away:

You don’t get quite the full effect without the beautiful bumper my sister made and gorgeous quilt my mom made, but everything matches.

I made the curtains with some plain blue fabric and leftover Curious George from the crib set my sister made. The animals are all felt cutouts which I glued using tacky glue so it would stay flexible. I made sure not to make them too big, since I’m constantly opening and closing the curtains.

I can’t decide which is my favorite – the monkey or the tiger.

Where did you get the animal cut outs from?
I made them myself out of felt. I think it would have been easier if I had used acrylic paint instead… using fabric glue for all the little pieces was pretty labor-intensive.
Where did you get the picture on the wall? Sooo adorable! If you made it- how??? Thanks!!
I painted it myself – thanks for the compliment! My son still smiles and makes animal noises whenever he sees it.
If you want to do something similar, do a search for the rainforest animals, and when you find a picture you like, trace it or print it. (Make sure you have just the outlines in nice clean, thick lines.) Go to an art supply store like Hobby Lobby and buy a canvas with no staples on the edges – that way you won’t have to frame it. Also buy some paintbrushes and cheap acrylic craft paint like Apple Barrel or Delta Ceramcoat.
Next, go to a printing store like FedEx Office and ask someone to help you enlarge it to the size of the canvas. Then, get 2 copies of the final size, just in case. The next part is tricky to explain but really easy to do: cut one of the shapes out of your paper template. Then, put the template on top of the painting, and very lightly in pencil trace the outline onto the canvas. Then just keep cutting out one shape at a time and tracing them onto the painting. Then it’s as easily as paint-by-numbers (without numbers)!
