Minuscule Video

Mar 29, 2008 10:03

I’d like to take a moment to introduce you to my new friends:

Minuscule Ladybugs

These little dudes are from a French animated series called Minuscule. (They have a UK English version for those of you who don’t speak French.)

Minuscule Wormy

I highly recommend taking a few minutes to view the videos they have on the official site

Minuscule Spider's Eye View

and then popping over to MetaCafe to view a few full videos. (Warning: there are some yucky videos on this site, so you will have to ignore some thumbnails or just not visit the site. Unfortunately, nobody else has these awesome animations posted, and they are currently only available in France and the UK, so you can’t even order the DVDs!)

Thanks to Sarah for introducing me to these little friends!

Why I’ve been silent

Mar 15, 2008 14:03

You’re probably impatient with me for not writing in awhile, but I just haven’t been able to.

Back in January, Hubby discovered that his company was hiring people for his job in both Kansas (where my family lives) and Colorado (where we’d like to live). After an agonizing week of discussion, we decided we should head for the mountains, so Hubby applied for that job. Then there were more agonizing weeks of waiting… and waiting… and waiting.

Eventually Hubby was told he had the job, but for some reason he was never given the details. Hubby scheduled vacation so he could talk to the manager in person. But since he never got around to organizing a meeting, let alone an interview, we decided to go there just for a vacation.

That, of course, got ruined just like our Arkansas vacation — critical projects popped up out of nowhere, and Hubby had to work.

So we left three days late and went to the coast instead. It was nice, much better than sitting at work moping, but overall it was very disappointing not to have gone where we wanted to go. Up until that point, I didn’t feel comfortable blogging about what was going on lest any information fall into hands that would misunderstand and jeopardize our jobs.

After yet more struggling, the final consensus is that we’re going to move in June. We want to live in the mountains, but not in a big city like Denver.

The taste of freedom that came from “knowing” we were leaving imminently (when we thought Hubby had the job, and we would be moving in a month) has forced me to conclude that I would rather be teaching than doing this horrid customer service stuff and playing secretary all day long.

I’m in the middle of applying to a design school so I can obtain a master’s degree and teach college. Besides putting together a portfolio of 20 pieces of my best work and writing a killer essay, I am studying for the GRE so I can maximize my chances of getting a good scholarship.

To say the least, this leaves me with little time to blog, but now that we have a firm plan and the employers realize we’re leaving soon, at least you know what’s up.
